I use GE brand(about $10) which it low cost and work great. When I turn on TV is take about 5 second or more before sound start to come on, please be aware of that. I have to go to setting speakers on the on TV screen program to customize the way I want on each speakers. My buddy is so impatient and went out and bought this HTIB when I told him I'd go out and look at what he needs. He recently got a Blu-ray player and has been itching to get a surround sound for it.

Should have just gotten the right type of HTIB. He should have gotten one with HDMI input/output. Use the ASC microphone where you seat and press ASC button in remote control. Do not bother with any other connections between the TV and HT. This will provide 5.1 Dolby for BD and DVD movies plus for the TV when using its tuner or any of the analog video/audio connections (component/composite) to the TV. There is a second analog input on front of the HT which uses an earphone jack (AUX-1) which could be used for another device. The AUX button on the remote is used to select these three audio sources.
If he is going to use it here is how I recommend it be connected. His BD player HDMI output connects to the HDTV. The BD player optical audio out connects to the HT optical audio input (D-IN). Connect the TV analog audio output (red/white) (if it has one- some don't now) to the HT (AUX-2).
Also if you hook up a Blu-ray player to this HTIB you cannot use any sound enhancements. Overall,Ok sound but terrible everything else. It does have Auto Speaker calibration which surprised me on a cheap,cheap set like this. Somethings about just didn't make sense though. And analog cable from Plasma to the DVD/receiver?

The specs say it supports Dolby Digital but I don't see a Dolby label on the pictures I'm looking at and it's not on the features page on the Samsung website . It seems odd as that's usually a major marketing feature and I'd think if they paid to put in the Dolby decoder, they slap the Dolby logo all over the place. It looks like a dog to me, try to get him to take it back.
